For the International Day against AIDSBREAKING NEWS : Barahona.- Institutions of health, education and organizations that are working on prevention of acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS) in the province of Barahona, conducted a march to raise awareness to the people of the transmission disease.
Stop AIDS, a more conscious society, AIDS is not seen, avoid transmission, fidelity is the best prevention
, and other messages were written on placards and exhibited during walk.
The activity started at the Place of the Duarte City of Barahona, travelled the streets and avenues of the city. Hundreds of students participated in this event, as well as members of cultural organizations and sports.
The march was headed by the Provincial Director of Health, Amelia Figueroa Feliz; Dr. Shanlatte Rafael Sánchez, General Director of Health, Dr. Marcos Soto, regional director of Senasa, the Director of the Regional Hospital University Jaime Mota and the director of Plan International, Sixto Celestino.
The Provincial Director of Health, Figueroa Feliz said it was a struggle to raise awareness among young people above all, the importance of preventing the disease of AIDS.
She added that the AIDS problem concerned both families and teachers, so the Minister of Public Health works to guide students of the schools of Barahona.
