2500 persons will work

During the Holy Week in Barahona

BREAKING NEWS : BARAHONA.-The Provincial Emergency Comission (CPE), launched the preventive operation Holy Week 2009 that will start from Holy Thursday, at the same time it disclosed the list of the closed beaches and aquatic sites, in various points of this province.

2500 persons will participate to this operation, including volunteers or first-aid workers of the Civilian Defense, Red Cross, firemen and Public Health.
The workforce of the War Marina, Touristic Police, AMET, and National Army will be there too.

Three ambulances and more or less 15 vehicles will work on the main roads, streets, beaches and water points of this province, and 91 first-aid stations will be at the disposal of the population.

The beaches that will welcome the swimmers in the Barahona province are: Playa Casita Blanca, Punta Inglesa, Salina, el Quemaíto, La Ciénaga, Los Cocos, Andina, Paraíso and Ojeda.

The beaches closed to the public are: Saladilla and la Azul, El Cayo and Acapulco, San Rafael, Los Patos, and El Caletón.

CODOCAFE gives bikes to technicians

CODOCAFE gives motorcycles to techniciansFor supervision of the production

BREAKING NEWS : Barahona.- The South Management of the Dominican Council of Coffee (CODOCAFE) gave several motorbikes to technicians of the institution so they could ensure the supervision of production and in order to guarantee the profitability of the producers.

The engineer Martiano Moreta, south manager, through the orders of the Executive Director of CODOCAFE, Fausto Burgos Mejía, said the institution promised to improve the services to the farmers who devote themselves to the cultivation of coffee.

Motorbikes were given to the technical staff in the Barahona, Pedernales, Bahoruco and Independencia provinces.

With this donation, CODOCAFE gives to its staff the material to be more efficient in what concerns the technical assistance. It aims to enlarge the development of the coffee cultivation through technical means, and to better the life conditions of the coffee cultivators in the south region.

American doctors in Barahona

Surgeons workingThey realize a surgical day

American physicians are realizing a surgical day in the Clinic Clínica Quirúrgica Materno Infantil, Niñosde las Naciones of Barahona, in favor of the poor persons.

The doctor Therma Batista, director of the institution explained that as part of this day, surgeries of otorhinolaryngology, ophthalmology and traumatology will be carried out.

She added that four American physicians are part of this operation, and that they will be offering their specialized services free and during a week for the poor persons.

During several years, this health center has been developing this kind of operations in favor of the poor persons, who do not have money to pay surgeries, as, for example, a cataract surgery, that is expensive, and we offer these services for free here, said Batista.

Maritza Peña, director of the educational section of the institution, explained that during its 12 years of service, 20 operations of this kind were developed, enabling to help more that 3000 patients.
