Facing the world crisisBREAKING NEWS : BARAHONA.- The governor of this province, Eddy Mateo Vásquez, said the president Fernández worked very hard in order to help the country to overcome the financial crisis that affects the economical sectors of the country.
As positive examples, he named the drop in the interest rate of the bank sector, and the access to a big portfolio of loans in order to facilitate the credits to the small and medium enterprises.
He added that the Dominicans trusted the President, who was the only president of the recent history to include the nation in international and world agreements.

Realized by the President FernándezBREAKING NEWS : BARAHONA.- The Governor of the Province emphasized the actions in favor of the women realized by the president Leonel Fernández, in a speech pronounced during the International Women’s Day.
The meeting, that took place in a restaurant of Barahona, bringed together hundreds of women that came from the sectors Palmarito, Camboya, Villa Estela, Los Multis Familiares, Casandra, la Playa, Pueblo Nuevo, Enriquillo, as well as the Villa Central community and from the municipalities of Cabral, Jaquimeyes, Fundación, El Peñón, La Ciénaga, Paraíso, between others.
They enjoyed artistic presentations and domestic electrical appliances were given to them.
Eddy Mateo Vásquez, explained that President Leonel Fernández increased the politics in favor of the women, which enabled them to improve they life quality.
He remembered that the history of the country counted with many woman, as María Trinidad Sánchez, Concepción Bona, Yolanda Guzmán, Ercilla Pepin, the Mirabal sisters and Mamá Tingo.
But we have to pay homage, here in Barahona, to the women, as María Montez and Casandra Damiron who make us proud to live here
, he added.

In BarahonaBREAKING NEWS : Barahona.- The executive director of the National Council for Childhood and Adolescents
(CONANI) Kirsys Fernández, leaded in this town a meeting with the representatives of the Protection System for Children and Adolescents
of the zone of Enriquillo.
During the meeting, that took place in the Mamerto Rivas room of Sur Joven, the guests expressed their requests, concerns and needs, and resumed the worked realized in favor of the Children and Adolescents of the region.
As she spoke to the guests, Kirsys Fernández said she would continue to support the work of the government organizations and the NGO’s of the Enriquillo zone.
She explained that her presence in the city was part of a monitoring process of all the regional offices organized by CONANI, in order to see personally how the protection system is working.

To the reforestation daysBREAKING NEWS : Barahona.-The Ecological Group Manglar
, asked the different sectors of the country to take part in the reforestation days realized at a national scale.
The call was made by the national coordinator of the organism, the engineer Sucre Antonio Novas, who said that many problems of the world were caused by the irrational and abusive exploitation of the natural resources by men.
However, he explained that many countries were aware of this problem and were taking serious and radical measures in order to preserve these precious zones. According to him, Dominican Republic has to protect its natural resources too, to ensure its future.
The hydrology expert declared that the Minister of Environment, Jaime David Fernández Mirabal, was doing a good work, by increasing the serious measures in favor of the preservation of these green zones. He added that it was necessary to include the population on the reforestation days.
Our organization realizes its own reforestation days, on various areas of the province, and, soon, a similar work will be realized in the critical zones of the Baoruco chain of mountains. Hundreds of volunteers of the Enriquillo region that includes Barahona, Pedernales, Baoruco and Independecia will participate to this project
